How to make a Black and White Melt and Pour Soap
If you are a Beginner in Soap Making like me and want to try making
basic melt and pour soap, here is the coolest one.
It is easy to make and since lye is already mixed in the pre-made soap, it isn't much complex.
I am using Goat Milk Soap Base and Shea Butter Soap Base which are moisturizing and good for skin. You can use a different base if you don't like these or have any allergies.
Ingredients required:
- · 100 gm Goat Milk Soap Base
- 100
gm Shea Butter Soap Base
-
Chia Seeds (Sabja Seeds) to add in white part- 2 ¼ tsp
-
Activated Charcoal Powder- 2 ¼ tsp
-
Fragrance Oil (Baby Powder Fragrance)- 1.54 g for each soap base
- Isopropyl
Alcohol- 1 Tbsp to disperse color
- Isopropyl
Alcohol- to spray on bubbles
(Isopropyl Alcohol is flammable, be careful in handling it)
How to make the Black Part of Soap:
1. First add 2 1/4 tea spoon charcoal powder in 1 Table Spoon Isopropyl
Alcohol and mix it thoroughly. Isopropyl Alcohol is used to disperse black
color easily in soap without lumps and irregular color. It evaporates in
few hours and will not stay in the soap. So, it should be okay to add.
2. Melt the Goat Milk Soap base using double boiler method. I have used
Goat Milk Soap Base, you can use shea butter or a different one to colour black
How to do a double boiler method?
Put the glass jars in a container or pan with water filled half of the pan. Keep the pan on stove and heat it until it melts. Ideal temperature for melt and pour soap is 120-125 degree Fahrenheit. Don't over melt soap.
3. Add charcoal mix and fragrance now to the soap.
4. Mix the soap using spatula until the color is
mixed properly in soap base.
5. Pour the Soap base into the mold to fill half. I will fill other half with White Color Base.
I have inclined my mold to fill half in triangle.
6. Spray some Isopropyl Alcohol to prevent bubbles.
Next steps with White Base:
- Once the Shea Butter Soap Base is melted, add 2 ¼ tsp of Chia Seeds in the melted soap base and mix it thoroughly.
- Pour this soap base in mold until the mold is full. You can adjust the shape using soap tools or spatula.
3. Spray Isopropyl Alcohol to remove bubbles.
4. Leave the Soap for 4-5 hours to harden. Once bar is hard, you can remove it. Leaving it for few days, will make the bar hard and stays for a long time.
How to make in Bulk or in Large Quantity?
1KG of Soap makes 10 soaps of 100 gram. Again, the quantity differs with size of molds.
Quantity of other ingredients which you can add in soap base.
