How to make Herbal Face Mask for Acne Prone Skin

My friends requested to post a video on face mask which I use for my acne prone skin. So, here is the most awaited one.

This mask has some beautiful Ayurvedic herbs.
It contains

Ashwagandha powder, also known as Indian Ginseng or Winter Cherry, which has anti-bacterial and anti- microbial properties. It prevents acne and ageing.

Licorice powder, also called Mulethi, is known for skin soothing properties.

Vetiver powder- In India it has been used for it's cooling properties. Vetiver roots were used in coolers and pots. It smells earthy, woody and amazing. It is useful in clearing acne and acne marks, making skin soft.

Avarampoo powder, also known as Tangedu or Senna Auriculata, is used to treat uneven skin and black spots, keeping skin blemishes free. It improves glow and complexion.

Kasturi Manjal or Wild Turmeric powder is an anti-septic and a natural cleanser. It smells amazing too.

This herbs are not easy to apply without a binding ingredient. I am adding Bentonite clay here.

You can use any clay like Rose Clay, Kaolin Clay or Sandalwood powder or simple chick pea or bengal gram powder which is traditionally used in India.

Bentonite Clay is used in treating oily skin and acne. It has minerals like Potassium, Sodium, Calcium and Silica. It is able to bind bacteria and toxins that live within pores.

Weights:
  • Ashwagandha powder (Indian Ginseng)- 8 grams
  • Licorice powder (Mulethi)- 8 grams
  • Vetiver powder- 2 grams
  • Avarampoo powder ( Senna Auriculata)- 8 grams
  • Kasturi Manjal (Wild Turmeric)- 4 grams
  • Bentonite Clay-  20 grams

How to make it?

Just mix all the ingredients, stir it well using spatula or spoon and pour in an air tight container.
It is as simple as that.

How often can we use?

I use it once or twice a week. I see my post acne marks reducing slowly. I mix water or milk in one table spoon dry powder and apply it on face. Aloevera gel, Rose water can also be used instead of milk, or only water would also work.

Shelf life:

I store this for 3 months in general. Do not add water or any hydrous ingredients like Rose water, aloe juice to store without adding a preservative. Herbs and clay are hard to preserve even with a preservative when water is added. Store the dry ingredients in air tight container and add water to separate bowl when you want to make a paste.

Substitutions:

I don't suggest replacing these herbs unless your skin is sensitive to it. Clay can be replaced with any clay.
Do a patch test before applying to face.

Where to buy ingredients:

I got my herbs from HerbsKart
And, Bentonite Clay from Sattvic Foods
